The Prince of Asturias Foundation has now been acknowledging the work and efforts of institutions and individuals the world over for twenty-two years with its Awards. Every autumn our Principality becomes the centre of international attention.

This year Oviedo once again welcomed outstanding figures from different cultural milieu. Arthur Miller, Woody Allen, Hans Magnus Enzensberger, Anthony Giddens, the Forefathers of the Net, the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research, and the representatives of the best of Brazilian football are now members of what has come to be known as 'Mankind's Honours List'. Last 25th October, in the Campoamor Theatre, these 2002 Prince of Asturias Awardwinners starred in what the media rated to be 'the most brilliant of the awards ceremonies to date'.
