Günter Grass and Claudio Magris lead the second debate in the series celebrating the Awards´ XXV Anniversary
The German writer commented in Oviedo that the Prince of Asturias Awards are "as important as the Nobel Prizes".

Writers Günter Grass and Claudio Magris, 1999 and 2004 Prince of Asturias Award Laureates for Arts respectively, were in Oviedo on Saturday 21st January to lead a debate organised by the Prince of Asturias Foundation to mark the XXV Anniversary of the Awards. Journalists and war correspondents Massimo Nava, of Il Corriere de la Sera, and Ángeles Espinosa, of El País, and the Hungarian-born German essayist Ivan Ángel also participated alongside both Laureates in a debate on the present role of the media.

The photo exhibition at the former fish market in Oviedo´s Plaza de Trascorrales will be open to the public until March 10th.

The call for the 2006 Prince of Asturias Awards now open
The deadline for proposing candidates is March 15th 2006. This date is extended till July 28th for the Concord and Sports Awards.
Call for entries for the eighth edition of the `They were once like you´ competition on the life of the Prince of Asturias award laureates
The eighth consecutive edition of the "They were once like you" competition has opened for secondary school students in Asturias as part of the activities organised by the Foundation´s Youth Department.
