Villar de Vildas, in the borough of Somiedo, winner of the 2004 Exemplary Town of Asturias Award At the beginning of the nineties Villar de Vildas was an isolated place at the head of a valley carved out by the River Pigueña, earning its living mainly from subsistence agriculture and cattle farming.
